Did you know that Philip Morris originally created this brand for women and then repositioned it to target a male audience? The Marlboro Man is an image created in the '50s. Filtered Marlboro cigarettes were not perceived at the time as a masculine attribute, so the huge advertising campaign was based on the famous image of the cowboy to popularize the brand among men.
